Long-distance move from Phoenix, AZ to Vancouver, WA

Worst experience with a 3rd party

This is a moving broker, so they find someone to move you, they don't do it themselves. The movers they recommended hardly spoke English and they sent only 2 guys for a 2k sqft house. After half a day, they filled up their truck and had to come back out the next day. Come to find out they unloaded this truck and put everything into a storage unit. We specifically asked if they were going to do this and we were told no. After almost another half day with again only 2 guys, we were told we needed to pay more. They had at least half of our stuff, what were we going to do?? Nationwide said we should pay them and we'll deal with it after delivery.

Fast forward over 2 weeks and many missed dates they arrive and yet again, 2 guys to unload everything. We ended up helping them do some of the unloading as it was taking so long. Great deal for paying almost double, but it gets better! We found that the majority of our furniture was damaged, along with many other things such as electronics. After dealing with Nationwide for about 2 months after the move, we stopped as it was clear they didn't care and the moving company essentially disappeared.

I called lawyers, but because of the different states, it was going to be difficult to start a lawsuit. This company is easily the worst I've ever experienced. I hope people will read reviews and don't use this company. They should be shut down and forced to pay back everyone they've screwed over.

Move From Florida To California

Nationwide did an amazing job. We had a LOT of stuff to move and they did it all with a great attitude. There was nothing that was too hard or a problem they couldn't solve. One of the best moving experiences I've had. They came prepared, on time, and with masks. Emilio went over all the charges and walked us through the timeline and process. Overall, a great team and I would highly recommend.

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Murfreesboro, TN

Moving from CA to TN

Ciera and Paul were such a pleasure to work with and gave us great rates. Ciera was enthusiastic and patient with us through the entire process. She listened closely to our needs and followed her words with action. She supported us the entire process during a stressful time and when we had questions and so forth. The moving men she arranged for us were just as fabulous and took great care in packing our antiques and life into their truck. Thank you Ciera for being not just an amazing, dedicated professional but a good human. With your work ethic and strong people skills… you are going places my friend! Very impressed by you and Grateful!

Getting the Ball Rolling

Matthew P. Was very helpful, polite and pleasant to speak with concerning the plan to get my move set up. Matthew helped get me the best price and inform me how the process is going to work.

Shelby called me to verify my information. It was a pleasure to speak with her. I would say the most pleasant people to talk with to help make would could be a very stressful situation less stressful.

Thank you both!

Review

I am 100% satisfied with Nationwide Moving. From the booking with Max to working with Cierra thru out the transaction. Cierra reassured me that my move was in excellent hands as I made the decision to move from CA to FL. She answered all my calls, texts and questions during the move. Cierra removed all the stress that goes with moving. I've moved across country 3 times and by far this was the only one that gave me zero stress! The gentleman, Jose that picked up my stuff in CA stayed in constant communication with me. Cierra went above and beyond being helpful. I highly recommend Nationwide Moving and Storage! They will not disappoint!! Cindy Goss

Cierra manager was AWFUL

Just submitted a complaint through BBB Cier was absolutely awful. She’s very young, immature and should not be a manager. I submitted an email well before my move date with a change of date as well as an updated address. She completely dropped the ball and her and the owner were so disrespectful on phone. If you all could hear the way she was speaking, ignoring questions

And patronizing me all while

The owner was sitting next her in a vehicle. They didn’t even have our emails to pull up and verify any info yet they were willing to call me to settle the issue with no grounds to speak on. It was like arguing with a teenager. Absolutely nothing made sense. Please do not use their services.

What’s hilarious is I just saw that she left a review on her own company. Just scroll down, Cierra Cruse, WOW.

Worst movers

To say I’d give Nationwide Moving and Storage along with Shelby Brothers Moving and Storage a negative star if I could, would be putting things lightly. As soon as the contract was signed, there have been nothing but issues dealing with both of these companies with little to no response. From missed pick up deadlines, some of the rudest customer service reps and delivery people I’ve ever dealt with, disregard for any kind of call back or follow up, the difficulty of speaking to a manager that would take accountability for their shortcomings (both Nationwide and Shelby - neither happened), broken items, and smashed boxes. Madison, Alex, Matthew, and Ciera from Nationwide were anything less than helpful (especially Matthew and their manager, Ciera). Shelby Brothers Moving, Jasmine and her reps, had no resolutions to offer for all of the issues. Rustam with the delivery truck was a very unpleasant person and so rude (even the storage company employees commented on how rude he was). If you’re considering using either of these companies for a move, I advise you to reconsider.

Long-distance move from San Bernardino, CA to Charleston, WV

Worst Cross-Country Move, Ever

Firstly, the initial conversations with Exclusive (aka, Nationwide) were great. The ability to get a quote was easy, as was scheduling. I was however not made aware that Nationwide was a broker and that's where things went very bad. The two men who came to collect our belongings looked shocked that we were moving a whole house. They did not come with tools to take apart furniture as Nationwide promised and instead used a lot of tape in an attempt to secure things like the furniture pads over large pieces. The pick-up was on a Sunday and they left our belongings in the driveway for several hours while I worked out the difference in cost with the dispatcher (yeah, it was drastically different than quoted), who wanted me to pay in cash (no way was I doing that; they ultimately took a check for the difference).

As if all that wasn't infuriating enough, they did not keep in touch about the schedule, so I had no idea when our belongings would arrive. I reached out to Nationwide and was told the delivering company would be in touch (they were, sort of -- they called me several times and left maybe one message that I didn't check right away as I was in the midst of other things. When I answered, the dispatcher told me they were delivering the next day. Upon arrival, we were greeted with three people: the driver and two workers. The driver made it clear that he was only there to drive (he spent the 11 hours they were at our property in the truck). They arrived at 10 AM or so as we were the first stop. However, our belongings were all the way on the inside of the trailer, which did not have side doors. The worker (note the singular -- one worker left after seeing the scope of the job) put at least half of someone else's house on our lawn as he made a tunnel to get to our stuff. The local job leader came out with another worker, but he got them situated and left. So, there were two men to work out unloading all our stuff. In the meantime, I'm in conversation with the dispatcher; it's again a Sunday and they only take cash, Venmo, CashApp, money orders, cashier's check. I wasn't able to do any of those and hadn't been given enough notice ahead of time. In the end, I was able to pay the balance, which seemed the biggest issue for everyone.

They used tape directly on my metal filing cabinets instead of covering them with furniture pads and now, on the other side, I'm having to invest in Goo Gone or something to clean them up.

It seems that nearly every box marked 'fragile' was punted down the 50-yard line. We have broken items to content with, including my office desk. They lost my fiance's 6-foot ladder and made no comment. Now, I can't get answers to calls or emails to support about filing a claim. Did I mention that the pick-up driver shoved the paperwork for my signature under my nose when I was at the height of frustration after having already ticked the box for minimal claims coverage (which amounts to about 60 cents per pound or something)? Yeah, that.

Now that it's all done, I can't get an answer from the Support email for Nationwide. The initial reply I received after asking about how to file a claim got me the email and phone number to the company that took the job (remember, Nationwide/Exclusive is a broker). I've gotten no answer to the emails I sent to the actual company. The phone number doesn't have voicemail set up. When I did get the dispatcher (who answered the phone with 'hello' and no company name), he said he was driving to his office and could I call him in an hour. I wasn't able to do that because of my work and haven't been able to get him since.

At this point, I'm taking this as a big emotional loss. I am working with my homeowner's to try and get some recompence for the broken and missing items.

Save yourself the headache and go with anyone else. Make sure they aren't a broker but the actual moving company. Get them to come out, look at your stuff, and give you an estimate (these folks did it all by phone and put 'box' instead of clearly identifying that we had wardrobe boxes, XL boxes, small boxes, etc.).

Local move within California

Not a great experience as soon as I was passed from Broken to Movers

When I first called I was impressed, but once it came to the movers coming to my house, it was a whole different story. I was immediately faced with two men coming into my apartment and right off the bat said I had too much stuff and they were charging me for 5 extra stairs. They were incredibly rude and barely could speak with me cause of the language barrier. I had to call Nationwide about this and they were incredibly unhelpful. They also didn't have an inventory list for me so they were arguing with me on everything that was already noted as inventory a week beforehand (and even a month beforehand). And then I had to pay them extra for stairs even though that was also included in my contract.

I was not getting the updates I was supposed to for when my item would arrive. I was told I would get a 24-hour window of when everything was arriving and ended up getting a ONE-HOUR window. Thankfully I was close to home.

The mover arrived alone and half of my boxes were turned upside down and smashed. A lot of my items were damaged, dresser, side tables, bike, and printer as well as items in boxes since they look like they were just thrown around. For the cost I paid ($3,000) I would NEVER use this company again as they clearly are not representing "A-Rated" moving companies like the one they allowed to move my belongings cross country.

Long-distance move from Mesa, AZ to Battle Ground, WA

Worst experience with a 3rd party

This is a moving broker, so they find someone to do the moving for you; we were Figueroa Transport.

On move-out day, the movers were over an hour late and came to find they only sent two movers for a 1700 sqft house. I then found them wrapping furniture and electronics in only shrink wrap. After questioning this, they said this is all they had. They didn’t have any moving blankets or the TV/Monitor boxes I paid extra for. I got on the phone with Nationwide and they proceeded with their calls and whatever else they supposedly did. This led to nothing being done and Nationwide said that if anything is damaged, they would help me put in a claim for all damaged items. The only guy that could speak English then tells me that not everything is going to fit and this will cost more, so I’m then back on the phone with Nationwide. This again led to nothing being done and that this would be dealt with after the move.

After about 4 hours, I was tired of watching two guys do this work so slow, so I started moving boxes outside to the truck. At the 6-hour mark, the truck was full for their standards, which meant, there were still large gaps where things could fit.

On day two, the same two guys show up with no additional help and are late again. Once again, there were no moving blankets or TV boxes. All they did to protect some things was to cut random boxes and tape them up. I was once again told this move was going to cost more. Back on the phone with Nationwide, they sounded upset about the situation and made numerous calls back and forth with me. They said they would look at giving me back my deposit. Well, after another 6-hour day and helping them move more things (including my refrigerator), the day was done. They somehow needed two 26’ trucks for a 1700 sqft house when my previous move was to a house of the same size and the previous mover got it all in on a 26’ truck.

At this point, they want to get paid. This move was supposed to cost around 9k and it was now double at 18k. Once again, back on the phone with Nationwide. It was obvious they were frustrated, but more than once their supposed customer service manager borderline yelled at me during our conversations. I was again told they would look at refunding me my deposit.

Fast forward a few days when I’m in my new house. When getting a couple of days away from delivery day, I tried calling Figueroa. I had issues with no one answering my calls or returning any text messages; on the phone with Nationwide again. This back and forth garbage goes on for two weeks, which is nine days past the delivery date. So I’m in an empty house without furniture or any way of cooling or cooking food. When Figueroa finally decides to show up, there are once again only two guys to move everything. But they’re oddly enough in one 26’ truck and an additional much smaller truck - odd that it took two 26’ trucks previously. As they’re moving my things in, I can clearly see damage on several pieces of furniture. I once again helped them move my things in, which took over 7 hours.

During unpacking and organization, my observations were correct: almost every piece of furniture was damaged, including an impossibly large chunk taken out of my dining room table. I also found they had wrapped 4 monitors in thin bubble wrap and threw them in a makeshift box. One of which was broken and unusable. I documented everything that was damaged and asked how I can file a damage report. A Figueroa person says “text me the pictures.” There are 30+ pictures!! I refused and went back to Nationwide. They had me email them over and include them in the communication.

Two months after the ordeal, there has been zero communication back from Figueroa; I was sending weekly follow-up emails. During these two months, I’ve also constantly emailed Nationwide, but they will only say that they're trying to communicate with Figueroa and they’ve supposedly put in a complaint with the Department of Transportation. When I ask to see these communications, I don’t get a response. After a few more weeks, they sent out a blast email saying they’ve had constant problems with Figueroa and are “at a loss with answers.” The short of it is, they're not helping anyone anymore. They also say in this communication that they’ve fulfilled their portion of the agreement.

In my experience with contractors/3rd parties, I’ve never experienced a more incredible lack of customer service and a shirking of what is right. So I’m now left with a moving bill that is double what it should be, thousands of dollars worth of damaged belongings, not getting at least my deposit back, and left with the fact that I did some of the work myself.

I also found out that their BBB accreditation has been revoked. There are alerts for them with 26 complaints in the last year.
